Maxwell on the Run

Here’s a fun little video my good friend Greg submitted for “Steve Martin’s Wally on the Run” video contest. Enjoy!

SPROCKETS TIFF storyboard workshop 2009

Back in April, I was honoured to be invited to host a workshop on storyboarding for SPROCKETS TIFF, the Toronto International Film Festival for Kids.  The festival has recently posted an interview they conducted with me online.  I’m not able to embed the video, but  you can view it by going to the festival website by clicking >HERE<.

I always find it awkward to watch myself on video (thus a career firmly behind the camera…) but they’ve done a great job making me look and sound like I actually had something coherent to say.  I assume that everyone at the festival was happy with the workshop, because they’ve invited me back again in February 2010, which I’m really looking forward to.

“And now we dance!”

As it turns out, I’ll have the opportunity to host a storyboarding workshop this Friday, as part of TIFF Sprockets childrens film festival. I’m looking forward to what I’m sure will be a fun time!

And anybody who was a fan of Mike Meyers on SNL will get the title…

buttons…

One of my favourite books ever is Coraline by Neil Gaiman.  It contains some of the most terrifying imagery I can imagine and yet has a powerful, sweet theme at its core – easily accessible to readers of all ages.  For me, reading about those who existed in the Otherworld with buttons sewn over their eyes was a truly eerie visual.  And now, thanks to the miraculous auto-magical technology that exists on the upcoming “Coraline” movie web-site, you too can gain access to the Otherworld (without actually having to give up your eyes!).  What buttons will you choose?

I see you...

I see you...

All-american rejects…um…rock!

Saw these guys in concert last year and had a blast! We were about 6ft from the stage and these guys really know how to put on a show, they have a great sense of humour which is clearly evident in this cover of Britney Spears’ “Womanizer”. At first I thought it was simply farce, but by the end of the video (as I’m sure you’ll agree) I was really digging this version! The first in what is sure to become a standard in squeeze-box and beer-bottle harmony. Classic!

“9″

Well, they’ve finally released the first trailer for ‘9′, and I have to say it looks pretty slick.  Lots of action, driving music, explosions….and not a talking animal in sight (okay, okay, so it’s about talking burlap dolls, but they are kick-ass post-apocalyptic burlap dolls!)  I’m really curious to see how it all came together since the last time I saw it.  The people over at Starz (Toronto) did an awesome job, the visuals look fantastic.  Check it out!

Check it monkeys, I’m going iPhone!

So here I am, blogging away from my shiny new iPhone! Man, I love this thing! In fact, getting the iPhone was one of the reasons I switched over to WordPress for my blog. They have a fancy App you can download to the iPhone that makes it super easy. Hopefully, having access from anywhere will help me improve on updating this blog more often (time will tell, but my intentions are true). In the meantime, I’m gonna have fun playing with my new toy…er….I mean powerful business tool.

Oh, and the title of this post is a nod to one of my favourite shows, 30 Rock (so people don’t think I’m just being cheeky!).

Burlington Rocks!

Just this past weekend, the Burlington 2008 – 2009 Community Guide came out.  It’s basically a collection of interviews and information about local attractions and residents.  I was fortunate enough to have been included in this years publication, with a nice little interview about why I (and we as a family) choose Burlington as our home.  It is a great city to live in, and you can read the interview on my website HERE or the online version of the Community Guide HERE (I’m on page 122).

‘Enchanted’ nominated for 2 Grammy’s!

51bhiu6b57l_ss500_Enchanted was just nominated for 2 Grammy’s, both in the same category.  One is for the song ‘Ever Ever After’ and the other ‘That’s How You Know’.  I have to admit, I’ve loved ‘That’s How You Know’ since the very first demo Alan Menken sent us; even with him singing each vocal part on his own it had a certain magic to it.  I’ll keep my fingers crossed, here’s wishing them luck!
